A Study on Effectiveness of Primary Teacher’s Training in Nepal

Project Description

The study focuses on the effectiveness of teachers training in terms of performance of teachers inside the classroom and the limiting factors that affect the transfer of teaching skill. The major objective of the assignment was to examine the training delivery at training center, identify the professional activities carried out by the teachers in the classroom situations, examine the aspects that affect the transfer of training skills in the classroom delivery, find out training implication in the context of restructuring of school education system to grades 1-8 as primary level and to suggest possible measures to transfer the training skills in the classroom.

Assignment Description

The study was conducted in 5 districts covering all 5 development regions and geographical zones (Mountain, Hill and Terai Region). From each selected districts 15 public primary schools (3 schools from each selected district) were taken as a sample for the study. The study used a combination of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. A survey was designed and undertaken with appropriate sample of teacher. The sample covered three schools each from five districts. From each sample schools head teacher, parents, students, teachers, teacher trainers and school management committee members were interviewed. Various tools like TOTEM, Role Time Model etc were developed and used to study the transfer of training skill etc.
