A Study on Impact of Projected Pocket Package Program in Agriculture

Project Description

The proposed study was conducted in the pocket and non-pocket areas of Kailali and Dadeldhura districts. The Pockets, Village Development Committees and wards were selected by the consent of both Agricultural Development Office and the consultant subject to conditions mentioned in the ToR. For non-pocket areas the consultant was selected the area based on the conditions mentioned in the same. For this study purpose Chaumala pocket was selected for the pocket area whereas Beladevipur, Malakheti, Shreepuir VDCs and Dhangadhi municipality were selected for Non-pocket area in Kailali district. In the case of Dadeldhura district Nawadurga pocket was selected for the pocket area whereas Mastamandu was selected for non-pocket area.

Assignment Description

Assess the effect of pocket package program on production and Productivity. • Find out strengths and weaknesses inherent in the pocket package program. • Suggest ways and means of vitalizing this program through development of a total package in true sense so that the vision of Agricultural Perspective Plan is materialized • Suggest measures for improvement on the built in system of the Pocket Package Strategy based programs so that production, productivity, income and employment in both the Pocket and Non-Pocket areas can be improved. • Assessment of production, productivity, income and employment situation in "Pocket area" and "Non-Pocket area" over time. • Assess role of DADO/SSMS/JT/JTA in the implementation of pocket package program (PPP). • Assess extension research linkages in technology transfer • Assess co-ordination with AIIC, irrigation; agriculture inputs suppliers and other line agencies. • Assess participation and working areas of other stakeholder including NGO/INGO • Identify effectiveness of program activities of DADO in the pocket area. • Assess overall performance of PPP in terms of production and productivity. • Suggest measures for improvement on the built in system of the Pocket Package Strategy based programs so that production, productivity, income and employment in both the Pocket and Non-Pocket area can be improved.
