Assessment and Design of Telemetric System in Karnali Basin

Project Description

The objectives of the assignment is to assess and design a real time data acquisition system, that includes data collection, transmission, and storing, with use of latest advances in the information and communication technology (ICT) like Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) dual wireless data transmission at hydrological and meteorological stations for the near to accurate water resources assessment and allocation in Karnali river basins of Nepal.

Assignment Description

The scope of services under the present study is summarized as below; • Literature survey of the Telemetry Systems and it's review • Identification of data source and information collection for the study purpose • Field visit to all hydrological and meteorological stations within the scope of works i.e. in Karnali Basins • Collect an inventory of equipments installed at each hydrological and meteorological stations • Assessment of availability of infrastructure at each hydrological and meteorological stations • Correspondence and interaction with different agencies/companies for equipment and telemetry systems • Select and recommend the feasible stations for telemetry based on the accessibility, communication systems available, present physical infrastructures available, topographical feature, river systems and importance and priority • Design and recommend the type of sensors, data logger and communication system • Prepare technical specification for sensors, data logger and communication system etc. • Prepare cost estimate of the each component of telemetry system and total project cost • Preparation and submission of Inception Report and presentation • Preparation and submission of Draft Final Report and presentation • Preparation and submission of Final Report
