Assessments, Design and Technical Supervision Services for Disaster Mitigation Infrastructure Project in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan

Project Description

Nepal is prone to a range of natural disasters, including floods, landslides, fires, earthquakes, and disease outbreaks. In the wake of recent tragedies in the country, including the massive 2015 Gorkha earthquake, USAID introduced Tayar Nepal activity. Tayar Nepal is USAID’s flagship disaster preparedness and response project for Nepal. Tayar—which means “prepared”—strengthens the capacity of Nepal’s disaster risk management (DRM) and preparedness institutions. At the national level Tayar Nepal builds the capacity of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) institutions, which includes Ministry of Federal Affairs (MoFAGA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).

In Tayar Nepal Project Year 4 Annual Work Plan, Tayar Nepal Project has identified two (2) potential disaster mitigation interventions in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan. Tayar Field team in consultation with the municipal government identified priority projects that Tayar Nepal will provide financial and technical assistance to, including construction oversight during implementation. Tayar Nepal will support following two (2) major disaster mitigation projects in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan:

Assignment Description

Conducted feasibility study & detail engineering survey of Tayar Nepal proposed DRR mitigation intervention including recommendation of Tulsipur municipality. • Prepared and finalized the design, drawing (3D), estimate, BOQ, time schedule, technical specification, and other required technical documents as per Nepal Government norms, guideline for DRR mitigation projects in Tulsipur municipality. • During implementation period, if any modification required on design, estimation, BOQ, running bill format need to provide the respective documents accordingly. • Conducted daily monitoring, independently directly on the construction project locations and provide Monitoring Report (weekly) with following • Compliance with the quality standard as per technical specifications, drawing, design, and BOQ • Progress Vs. work plan (timeline) with estimated any delay or achievement as per construction work plan and timeline • Environmental compliance • Safeguard, health, and safety compliance • Recommendation • Completed the overall monitoring and submit Final Report. • Conducted two physical verifications during Defect Liability Period and provide recommendation report for rectification of observed defects.
