Government of Nepal (GoN), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) with the assistance of World Bank is implementing Nepal Livestock Sector Innovation Project (NLSIP), given the Importance of the livestock sector to rural livelihoods, the food and nutrition security, as well as for growth of the national economy.
The main feature of NLSIP is to adopt approaches for effective market linkage, response to national demand of livestock and livestock products, value chain linkages, knowledge based management for scaling up of research results and innovations, gender and youth inclusion, awareness on nutrition, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, adapting climate smart agriculture, private sector and citizen engagement for the sustainability of the project. The project covers all three eco-zones (Terai, Hill and Mountain) in four clusters along the road corridor encompassing five states and commodity specific value chains (dairy, goat meat and pashmina)
The objective of the baseline survey is to assist project in establishing baseline data for different parameters and value chain indicators as reflected in the project result framework including baseline information on socio economic profile, conditions, the local institutional environment, the local economic setting (access to market, access to inputs, finances, land, etc.) of the project’s direct beneficiaries. Specifically, this survey will (a) collate relevant socio-economic status and condition of sampled POs and other households who are supposed to be the project beneficiaries b) provide baseline data relevant to project’s result framework indicators for measuring project effectiveness and impact during and after the completion and (c) provide recommendations that may enhance the effectiveness and impact of the project interventions.
