Project Description

The main objective of this assignment is to suggest improving in the present system of toll collection through construction of new toll plaza booths with adequate space and other facilities with suitable design and drawings for toll plaza.

Assignment Description

Collected the relevant materials from various sources, which including; Traffic survey data carried out by the Department of Roads, Road Board Information downloaded from the webpage, Road Board Act 2002, Rate analysis Norms for Roads and Building, Nepal Roads Standards, Design Manuals, Topographical maps of Relevant areas, computer software, Tender Documents of similar works, Specifications for Roads and building etc. • Site selection and detailed engineering survey: Identification of appropriate toll collection location in 2 places of Prithvi Highway (Naubise-Mugling Section), and 4 locations of East-West Highway (2 at Narayanghat-Butwal Section and 2 at Naraynghat-Hetauda section) with stakeholder consultations and considering; (a) avoiding possible detouring of vehicles from the main stream, (b) minimum disturbances to local inhabitants and carried out detailed engineering and topographical survey of the selected/appropriate location including preparation of necessary engineering drawings of the proposed site. • Site soil and pavement investigation works • Manual Traffic Count (72 hours), and Classification of vehicles • Design and preparation of architectural / civil/ traffic related drawings including building, roads and associated works: (a) Prepared design and architectural drawing of toll plaza (building) consisting of the facilities like separate lane for heavy vehicle, vehicle with multiple trailers (articulated vehicles), multi-axle vehicles, light- vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers (maximum 3 lanes), median and safety barriers, mount for booth operators, lane driver, free flow provision for the opposite direction traffic (existing lane), signboard for guidance of traffic and giving information to the road users and drivers from a distance for type of vehicle with exact fee and for those needing change, and station room for the staff facilities with toilet and other basic facilities. • Design of highway / road Geometrics and pavement design and drawing of expanding and merging of lanes and pavement • Design for mechanical and electrical equipments, electrification of the plaza (building and surroundings), mechanical barriers, emergency solutions / options in case of breakdown and maintenance of Toll Plaza • Detail costing of all jobs specified as above for preparation of Detailed Project Report • Preparation of Inception, Draft, and Final Report
