Consulting Services for Road Improvement Project, Roads Group-B (Detailed Engineering Survey, Design and IEE of Hilepani-Diktel including link to Lamidanda (90 km) and Chandranigahapur-Gaur (44 km) Road)

Project Description

The proposed road sections of Road Improvement Project under Package-B comprises two road sections for (i) Chandranigahapur – Gaur Road (44 km) to be rehabilited as DBST and (ii) Hilepani – Diktel including link road to Lamidanda (90 km to bituminous otta seal). Geographically, Chandranigahapur-Gaur road falls in the central terai, whereas Hilepni-Diktel in the eastern hills of Nepal.
i) Chandranigahapur – Gaur Road: The road starts at Chandranigahapur, locally known as ‘Chapur’ a small township in the Mahendra Rajmarg (H01) and the alignment follows a north-south direction to reach Gaur, the District headquarter of Rautahat District (Central Region, Narayani Zone). The total road length is 44 km. The road is classified to SRN/feeder road. The road passes entirely through plain area of terai and floodplains of Bagmati River (right bank). Total Project Cost NRs. 319 million approx.
(ii) Hilepani – Diktel including link road to Lamidanda: The starting point of this section of road is from Hilepani (Eastern Region, Sagarmatha Zone), a settlement along the Katari -Sunkosi – Okhaldhunga Road and follows easterly direction and ends at Diktel, the district headquarters of Khotang district (Eastern Region, Sagarmatha Zone). The road passes various settlements like; Hilepani, Sokmeatar, Jayramghat (all in Okhaldhunga), Bahunidanada, Kaduwa, Chyasimtar, Badahare, Durchim, Mahadevstahn, Halesi, Dithung, Salle, Arkhaule, Buipa, Noonthala, Bamrang and Diktel. Hilepani – Jayaramghat section of 9 Km lies in Okhaldhunga District and Jayaramghat – Diktel section of 81 Km (including link road to Lamidanda) lies in Khotang District. The alignment crosses Dudh Koshi River, the boarder of Okhaldhunga and Khotang Districts at Jayaramghat. The road falls in the eastern hilly region with moderate climatic condition. The road is classified to SRN/feeder road. Total Project Cost NRs. 822 million approx.

Assignment Description

The major activities carried out are; • Detailed Engineering, Topographic and Cadastral Surveys of about 134 km. including preparation of DTM/DEM • Prepare Road Inventory of Existing Roads including Assessment of Sufficiency, Identification of Rehabilitation and Improvement Works • Finalization of Design Standards • Traffic and Axle Load including road data collection/survey • Roughness, surface distress survey and pavement investigations • Hydrological and Drainage Studies • Geological and Geo-technical, and Construction Material Survey • Environmental studies (IEE and EMAP preparation) and Social Studies/RAP preparation • Road/Highway Geometric Design • Pavement Design (Double Bituminous Surface Treatment & Low Cost Pavement Design using Otta Seal) • Detailed Design of Structures • Prepare Road Safety works and Miscellaneous works • Slope Stabilization and Bio-engineering Works • Prepare Site Specific EMAP and IEE report including identify environmentally safe tipping areas • Preparation of Detailed Engineering Drawings • Preparation of Detailed Bill of Quantities, Comprehensive Engineer's Estimates • Contract Packaging and Procurement Plan • Preparation of ICB Bid Documents including Preparation of Technical Specifications
