Project Description

On the request of the Government of Nepal to the Government of Japan for the study of “Kathmandu Valley Traffic Management and Road Development Master Plan” in August 2009 and “Traffic Improvement Master Plan Study for Kathmandu Valley FY2011-2012” in July 2010; this project has been formulated to collect data within the framework of the previous Master Plan (carried out by JICA as well) to identify main traffic issues/problems in Kathmandu Valley. The output of the survey; it is expected that the data will be utilized by GON as well as related organizations and donors to cope with the traffic issues/problems in Kathmandu Valley.

The survey area shall cover Kathmandu Valley that includes three districts and five municipalities, which are (1) Kathmandu District including Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Kirtipur Municipality, (2) Lalitpur District including Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City, and (3) Bhaktapur District including Bhaktapur Municipality and Madhyapur-Thimi Municipality.
