The proposed Decentralized Community Based Water Management Project (DCBWMP) aims to adopt principles of Integrated Water Resources Development and Decentralized Management as stated in Irrigation Vision Document. The specific objectives of the project is to improve agricultural productivity and its sustainability by improving access to irrigation with particular focus on marginal farmers and small stakeholders through community based and decentralized approach. The realization of these objectives will be measured by increased agricultural production, increased employment, improved food security, and community empowerment. The project comprises four components namely:
(i) Transfer of operation and maintenance responsibility of selected AMISs, (45,620 ha.)
(ii) Development of STW irrigation in 12 Terai districts,
(iii) Promotion of non-conventional irrigation technology, and
(iv) Integrated Crop and Water Management Program.
