The main objective of this study is to carry out pre-feasibility level study to identify various components of the diversion projects with irrigation (122,000 ha under Bagmati High Dam Project) and hydropower as the major water users; and as such a decision is made to decide for further study based on it’s economical, financial, and environmental considerations. Assignment Description

Review of documents, literatures, past studies, maps, drawings • Assessment of water availability in Sunkoshi basin at the point of diversion and Bagmati basin at Bagmati Barrage; • Assessment of water requirement for ongoing and completed projects for irrigation and other consumptive uses within Sunkoshi and Bagmati basins. • Assessment of water availability for transferring Sunkoshi river water to Marin river after meeting water requirements in Sunkoshi basin and other allocations under planned diversions in Koshi basin; • Assessment of water availability within and around the Bagmati command area from different local sources and finding out the required water to be diverted from Bagmati Barrage. • Identify possible headworks site in Sunkoshi river, entry portal, tunnel alignment, power house area and exit location of tunnel in Marin river; • Recommendation for further study • Assessment of cost and benefit of the project and carry cost benefit analysis • Preparation and submission of Inception, Field, Draft and Final Reports
