In pursuance of the Government’s objective of development of railway as an alternative mode of transport in Nepal, Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, Department of Railways, has decided to carry out detail survey and design of the Bardibas- Inaruwa section of proposed Mechi- Mahakali railway line with design speed passenger train 250 km/hr and Freight train 120 km/hr. The proposed new railway line normally runs parallel to the East – West Highway. The railway alignments proposed for detail design in this study is approximately 139.40 kilometres, 61 numbers of bridges IPC I Girder and PSC I Girder [16.065 km including Saptakoshi Bridge (8.12 Km)], 439 Box Culverts, Architectural Design of 14 Stations, station buildings, station platforms, office & service buildings, residential quarters, sheds & workshops, 148 RUB’s, Soil Investigation 416 Holes (8436 m), river crossing, and WBC 291 nos. are required in this section and conduct social impact assessment and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA). Total Project Cost NRs. 116.194 Billion.
