Detail Survey, Design and Cost Estimate of Southern Extension of Bishnumati Link Road and Manamati Bridge

Project Description

The Bishnumati Link Road (BLR) lies within the heart of Kathmandu. The BLR starts from Teku Bridge in Kalimati and links Thamel – Balaju road at Sorkhutte Chowk. Southern extension of BLR starts from Teku Bridge section running along the west bank of bishnumati river upto Balkhu Bridge on Ring road.

The Approximate length of proposed road is about 2 Km. the road shall be constructed as 4 lane urban roads with footpaths on both sides and additional facilities for pedestrians. A motorable bridge is to be constructed over Manamati river, a tributary of Bishnumati river approximately 200m downstream of existing Teku Bridge at Kalimati-Teku road.

Assignment Description

Detailed Survey and Design of Roads: Detailed survey and engineering design of urban road including: • Closed traverse survey, bench marks and reference points establishment • Fixing of road's centerline, cross-section and carrying out detailed ground survey • Preparation of detailed topo-maps • Number of lanes of highway carriageway: 4 (Median separated lanes as appropriate) • Drainage and hydrological study • Engineering design using CAD • Detailed Pavement design with bituminous surface dressing works • Design of market places, rest banks, bus shelters, guard rails, public toilet, bus parks, taxi stand, tree plantation, foot trails, river training works etc. as required and at appropriate locations • Bus stops/bus lay-bys at appropriate locations, width of bus-bays/lay-bys:3.0m • Preparation of plan, longitudinal profile and cross sections • Pavement design, side drains, cross drainage structures, retaining structures • Bus Lay-by, slope stabilization • Rate analysis, quantity and cost estimates and preparation of reports and drawings Detailed Survey and Design of Bridge: • Detail survey and design of Bridge (15 m Span 4 lane) including its approaches and river training works. • Site selection of the bridges • Detailed hydrological analysis for the flood flow in the river by using different approaches, HFL calculation using HEC-RAS 2.2, scour depth calculation • Detailed topographical survey of the bridge site • Evaluation of bearing capacity and foundation analysis • Detailed design of bridge • Design of river training and protection works • Preparation of drawings • Cost estimation • Preparation of Reports
