Detailed Design for Upgrading of Highway to Blacktop Standard including review of existing road corridor and Detailed Engineering Survey, Design, Preparation of Contract Packages Document & Preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) was carried out for the Project Road. Jorsal – Tamor – Sakranti – Maglung Sectors are sections of Puspalal (Mid Hill) Highway having length of 103.10km. link connects Phidim & Maglung The road links Eastern Development eastern hilly region with capital city Kathmandu. 2 bridges along with Tamor Bridge; which is under construction, is to be constructed on this section. Link connects Jorsal, Majhitar, Chuhandanda, Iwa, Sakranti, Dandagaun, Ishubu, Halimela & Maglung. The objectives of the project is to carry out review of existing road and its corridor, detailed engineering survey and design of highway including pavement design, slope stabilization and bio-engineering works and other structures, preparation of contract packages document and preparation of detailed project report (DPR) of three mentioned road sections. Total project cost: NRs. 5,812.25 million

Assignment Description

Review existing reports, standards and specification of the road sector related to assignment • Review and existing road and its alternate corridor. • Consultation with concerned Division Road offices, Regional Directorates and other concerned offices for information/data collection. • Detailed engineering survey of the alignment and its corridor (Road length 103.10 km) • Prepare the topographical map of the corridor • Conduct hydrological studies for cross drainage works and purpose the suitable cross drainage structures • Geotechnical survey/investigation including soil investigation and material survey • Carry out traffic surveys and traffic count • Chose economically feasible pavement type within the study corridor and design the 2 lane road with DBST Pavement • Carry out social baseline study on the road influence area on either side of road alignment and prepare social development plans • Carried out detail engineering design of road using computer Aided Design (CAD) Software. • Design of other road structures such as Cross Drainage Structure, Longitudinal Drains, Retaining Structures, Road Furniture and Road Safety Structures, Slope Stabilization and Bio Engineering Works Prepare practical and cost effective geometric (horizontal, vertical, intersection etc.), pavement and structural designs on the basis of projected traffic levels, pavement structure studies as determined from activities above and from previous studies and Reports from different agencies. • Identify sources of construction materials of appropriate quality; determine the quantities of material permitted to be taken from different source. • Wherever required on technical ground, recommend for improvement on alignment • Prepare working drawings in AutoCAD. • Prepare cost estimates with analysis of rates • Prepare Detail survey and design reports with necessary drawings. • Prepare contract packaging and bid document including; invitation to bids, bill of quantities, specifications, general condition of contract • Prepare Detailed Project Report for complete Road Length 103.10 Km.
