Detailed Engineering Planning and Design of Rani Jamara Kulariya Irrigation System Extension Project, Patharaiya to Kandra

Project Description

Patharaiya Extension is a part of RJKIP. The water for PEP with Lamki extension project is withdrawn from Bifurcation Point (BFP) of RJKIP main canal at chainage 8+875 km. The system comprises rehabilitation and extension of existing three systems, namely Patharaiya IS, Bani IS and Bhajani IS. Tail portions of Pirahawa IS, Rajbadhuwa IS and Laukah-Bhaukah were planned and designed as new area of PEP. Hasanapur IS and Bagdhauli IS are intact and no improvement works were planned in these systems.
This study covered the detailed planning and engineering design of branch canals and associated command area development works of 28,170 ha land of the Project.

Assignment Description

Carried out Benchmark survey (using DGPS) for ground control points in the command area; • Carried out detailed topographic survey (using DGPS and Total Station) and preparation of topographic maps by analyzing stereo-satellite imageries, with 0.25 m contour interval, for the command area of 28,170 ha; • Carried out layout and overall planning of the main canal, secondary canals, sub-secondary canals and watercourses for the command area development; • Carried out engineering survey of L-sections, X-sections of canal networks and details of existing drains and local depressions; • Carried out necessary geological investigations along the canals and command area; • Carried out detail engineering design (hydraulic and structural) and preparation of design drawings, and quantity and cost estimates (Bill of Quantities) of the canal network and associated structures which consisted of large hydraulic structures; Maximum Water Demand~35 m3/s, Length of Main Canal~12.95 km, Head Regulators~36 Nos, Cross-Regulators~31 Nos, Road Culverts~177 Nos, Escape~2 Nos, LD Syphons~13 Nos, Aqueduct~1 Nos, Weir-1 Nos. • Carried out planning and design of command area protection and river training works • Prepared project cost estimate for the entire work: NPR 4,610,198,000.00 • Prepared bid document and specifications for the procurement of works for ICB and NCB for the civil works based on the standard document of FIDIC and the GoN's PPMO • Prepared the Detailed Project Report
