Developing EIA Report Implementation Monitoring Guideline and Environmental Auditing Guideline

Project Description

In the process of implementing National conservation Strategy The National EIA Guideline for Nepal was prepared. With the broad framework of this guideline two separate EIA sectoral guidelines of Forestry and Industry sector were prepared and HMG/N as a part of the NCS implementation Programme has also drafted several sectoral EIA guidelines (Water resources, road, mining, urban, tourism landfill sites). This EIA report consists implementation of two guidelines namely monitoring and Environmental Auditing.
Monitoring Guidelines; including steps involved in environmental monitoring; monitoring sites and environmental issues; guidelines for improving monitoring systems; monitoring coverage and responsible Organizations; adverse environmental impacts and mitigation measures; environmental monitoring procurement plan; Planned Public Consultation Process; Environmental Benefits and Enhancement Measures; Environmental Monitoring Work Plan etc.
Auditing Guidelines; including general principles of environmental auditing; types of environmental audit; responsibility and timing for environmental audit; managing the audit; conducting environmental audit etc

Assignment Description

Review of existing National EIA Guidelines, sectoral EIA Guidelines • Review of existing Policies, Acts, Rules, Guidelines related to environment, approved EIA reports • EIA Report Implementation Monitoring Guidelines and Environmental Auditing Guidelines and related Policies of donor agencies and of similar guidelines of the developed and developing countries
