The present study covers five (5) Terai districts of Nepal namely (i) Morang, (ii) Chitwan, (iii) Rupandehi, (iv) Kapilvastu, and (v) Banke.
Morang District: Morang lies in the eastern Terai of Nepal. Administratively the district falls in the eastern development region and Koshi zone. The major rivers that flow through the districts are Bakra Khola, Burhi River (Keshaliya), Lohandra Khola, and Singhiya Khola.
Chitwan District: Chitwan lies in the central Terai of Nepal. Administratively the district falls in the central development region and Narayani zone. The major rivers that flow through the districts are Narayani River, Kair Khola, Lothar River, Manahari Khola, Narayani River, East Rapti River. Similarly there are small lakes and ponds within the districts which are; Bhimle Tal, Dewi Tal, Khageri Tal, Munda Tal, Majura Tal, Nanda Bhauju Tal, Tamar Tal, Tami Tal etc. Ajan Tal, Batase Tal.
Rupandehi District: Rupandehi lies in the western Terai of Nepal. Administratively the district falls in the western development region and Lumbini zone. The major rivers that flow through the districts are Dano Nadi, Kanchan Nadi, Koilohawa River, Kothi River, Rohini River, Tinau Nadi.
Kapilvastu District: Rupandehi lies in the western Terai of Nepal. Administratively the district falls in the western development region and Lumbini zone. The major rivers that flow through the districts are Dano Nadi, Kanchan Nadi, Koilohawa River, Kothi River, Rohini River, Tinau Nadi.
Banke District: Banke lies in the western Terai of Nepal. Administratively the district falls in the mid-western development region and Bheri zone. The major rivers that flow through the districts are Dano Nadi, Kanchan Nadi, Koilohawa River, Kothi River, Rohini River, Tinau Nadi.
