Development of Training Package on Market Information Sharing System at Farmers Group Level

Project Description

Commercial Agriculture Development Project is being implemented by GON with grant assistance from the ADB. The Project intends to produce impact on reduced poverty in the rural communities of 11 districts of EDR through equitable and sustainable commercialization of agriculture. The outcome of the project is improved efficiency in marketing and processing of high value crops, especially vegetables, fruits, tea and spices in the EDR. The major outputs of the Project are: i) increase public and private investment in commercial agriculture, ii) inclusion of poor and semi-commercial stakeholders in commercial agriculture, iii) timely available of market information to farmers, and iv) enhanced capacity of project partners in supporting farmers.

The overall objective of this assignment was to prepare Training Packages on Market Information Sharing System at farmers marketing group level to upgrade their knowledge and skills on the marketing activities.

Assignment Description

The major works that were carried out include: identification of major areas of training needs of farmers and other value chain stakeholders on agriculture marketing and market information and develop training manual based on need identified. A training module (10 days course) was developed covering issues like commercialization of agriculture, market oriented production, value chain management, market information system, cooperative development etc. The training manual was developed both in English and Nepali languages.
