Project Description

The project aims to establish a formal process of informed policy making in the Government wherein the policies developed and recommended are adopted to promote growth and reduce poverty. The TA will help to establish an institution with responsibility to undertake networking of the socioeconomic reform agenda and policy analysis of the Government for achieving poverty reduction and human development. It will contribute to institutional capacity development for informed policy-making processes of the Government. The ownership and consensus on the policy reforms required for achieving the larger objective of sustainable growth and development in Nepal will be strengthened.

Assignment Description

Works under Six thematic Sector were carried out like (i) Macroeconomic Management and Inclusive Growth, (ii) Trade, Regional Integration and Private Sector Development, (iii) Infrastructure Development, (iv) Decentralized Governance, (v) Agriculture and Rural Development, and (vi) Social Inclusion and Human Development • Works under each thematic sectors includes; • Develop a network for economic policy dialogue and analysis; • Undertake policy research and analysis, and information dissemination on several policy issues; • Strengthen networking among Government agencies, private sector, academic institutions, and non-government organizations; • Undertake research on best practices across the globe including adoption of participation of concerned stakeholder through workshop etc. • Assist in institutionalising of EPN draft EPN Institutionalisation, options paper, assist with other project activities; • Conduct workshop/Seminar on EPN Institutionalisation, finalization of options paper, and design of monitoring and evaluation strategy for the EPN (focal unit); • Preparation of Information Dissemination Strategy for EPN • Review Government decisions on institutionalisation, assist with implementation activities, assist with other project activities. • 14 researches on different topics carried out including the topics under agriculture sector: • Expansion of coverage and strengthening of resource centres for promotion of commercial livestock production in Nepal and • Improving seed security through the expansion of seed multiplication farms in the public, private and cooperative sectors in Nepal
