The Project for Agriculture Commercialization and Trade (PACT) is a Ministry of Agricultural Development, Government of Nepal (GoN) initiative, funded by the World Bank, to foster commercialization of agriculture in Nepal. PACT was initiated in August 2009 to implement interventions aimed at expediting agriculture commercialization in Nepal. This project has been following a result based approach offering a competitive matching grant for the eligible value chain participants (farmer groups, cooperatives, producers associations and private firms) under an output based financing system. In addition to this, AF extended project’s closing date by additional 3 years till 30th June 2018,
The project has already carried out baseline surveys for calls 1, 2, 3, 4. The collected data will also be used for the impact evaluation of the project, which will be carried out by Development Impact Evaluation (DIME), a unit of the World Bank’s research group
Across the 4 calls, the objective of the study is to track indicators at two levels
• At the level of the sub-project, to track changes in income status, firm productivity and a variety of other business development outcomes.
• At the level of beneficiaries to track changes in human development and productivity outcomes. Direct beneficiaries might include members of the farmer group that received the grant as a sub_x001f_project, for example; or of members of the household of the firm manager who received the grant.
