The Bishnumati Link Road (BLR) was envisaged to reduce the increasing traffic pressure and air pollution and to join the northern and southern parts of the Kathmandu City. The BLR starts from Teku Bridge (628650 E, 3065069 N) of Teku – Kalimati road and passes through the west bank of Bishnumati River and crosses the river nearby Kankeshwori. From the east bank of Bishnumati River at Kankeshwori the road reaches up to Indrayani. From Indrayani, the road diverts towards Dhalko, Khusinbu and meets the Thamel – Balaju road at Sorhakhutte Chowk, Lekhnath Sadan (629350E, 3067400N). The total length of the Bishnumati Link Road is 2.8 km. This road is four-lane road having 20m width, 14 meters carriageway and 3m footpaths on either sides. Gravelling has been done in most of the length except some places that is scheduled to complete this year. A 65m long skew bridge on the Bishnumati River near the Kankeshwori temple at will be constructed. The objective of the consulting services is to conduct a road corridor environmental assessment and improvement study, which covers technical/engineering, physical, biological, ecological and socio-cultural aspects to attain the desired objectives as given below:
