Malnutrition has remained a serious problem for Nepal with consequences for human development and overall economy. To address the multi-dimensional nature of nutrition, NHRC/RES/PROP/Approval 11 the Government of Nepal introduced a plan involving several stakeholders, with emphasis on improving coordination and capacity of national and local level actors to deliver multi-sectorial interventions. Implemented across 28 districts (selected based on Child Deprivation Index) in two phases, the Multi-Sector Nutritional Plan (MSNP) seeks to improve infant, children and women nutritional status in vulnerable social conditions. For this Endline survey there are 21 districts in two phases and 12 Non-MSNP districts selected. The interventions and outcomes of the program are:
• By intervening institutional capacity in terms of delivery and financial means as well as coverage and focalization, the plan seeks to affect regulation and coordination amongst the institutional network
• Improved maternal and children nutritional status through behaviour-changing and nutrition-sensitive related interventions
• Analyzing the development and functioning of information systems key to policy-making decisions at national and disaggregated levels to observe changes in the process of monitoring and evaluating nutrition-related situations.
