Project Description

Khando River, which lies in the Saptari district in the Eastern development region is notorious for the devastation it causes during floods in terms of bank erosion and destruction to farm lands. The study area is near to Indian border, next to Tilathi Village. The study consisted of selection of various alternative methods of river training techniques apart from the conventional types. The local people easily adopt the alternatives as it uses local materials and is low cost also.

Assignment Description

The services provided in study projects included were; Topographical survey, x-section and L-section of the river embankments, geological and material survey and subsequent soil analysis for plasticity, grain size etc., socio-economic survey of influence area, environmental study, hydrological analysis using computer model HEC-6 for flood analysis, engineering analysis of the alternative techniques, cost estimates, reports and drawing preparation.
