Feasibility Study of Dhamaura Irrigation Project

Project Description

The Project is intended to irrigate 221 Ha. (NCA) of land of ward no. 5 & 6 of Bhandara VDC in Chitwan District. It will be irrigated from perennial source Dhungre Khola. The source river, Dhungre Khola is perennial and the flow in the river is mainly contributed by sub surface flow. The total beneficiaries’ households are 443 with population of 3850. The cost of proposed development plan is NRs. 9, 978,500.

Assignment Description

Data collection, compilation, computation and processing all the hydrological, meteorological, agricultural, hydro-geological, social and institutional data. • Assessment of the crop water requirement and designing sustainable cropping patterns in various alternatives compatible with optimum use of irrigation water to gain highest economic return. • Study of existing farmer organization interaction and their co-operation in participatory approach for implementation and operation of the Project. • Detail work and reports on social, economic and institutional aspect of beneficiaries together with their involvement potential during implementation and also highlighting the constrains • Detailed engineering survey, preparation of design and drawing as per requirement e.g. L-section, X-section of canal, lay out plan showing intake location etc and river cross section and L-section of the river etc. • Estimations of economic appraisal considering with and without Project; estimation of direct benefits of the Project, Cost Benefit Ratio (BCR), Net Present Value (NPV), and Economic Internal Rate of Return (EIRR) • Conduct environment study focused on environment aspects before and after the Project, with aspects to vegetation, land erosion, slides and slips, sediment problem in watershed and Project area. It will also include measures on flood control work, along with irrigation measures for environment improvement. • Preparations of Bill of Quantities, rate analysis, and prepare Project cost estimate. • Prepare implementation program for proposed Project. • Preparation and submission of Draft Final Report • Preparation and submission of Final Report
