It has been implemented in all Terai districts of country aiming to develop 8,800 shallow tube wells and 50 deep tube wells per annum. To meet this national goal a rapid expansion of groundwater projects is essential. The study area is accessible from the East-West highway with fairly gravel road. The nearest road head is Nepalgunj, which is about 2 km east of the study area. The main objective of the study is to assess the technical and economical feasibility of shallow tube well irrigation in the said subproject area. The specific objectives of the study are:
• To investigate actual field situation and assess water resource potential in general and groundwater resources in specific,
• To investigate technical feasibility of shallow tube well irrigation development in the subproject area,
• To identify the infrastructure of shallow tube well development like electrification, road networks,
• To assess the beneficiary farmers interest and commitment towards subproject development.
