Feasibility Study on Agricultural Mechanization in Terai Region of Nepal

Project Description

The overall objective of this study was to analyze the then situation of mechanization in Nepal. This study generate/collect quite divergent information on status, prospectus and need of mechanization and provided recommendation on policy issues, institutional reform, technology, research, extension, training and education need, trade and supply.

Assignment Description

field work was carried out in six districts (Kanchanpur, Bardia, Nawalparasi, Parsa, Jhapa, Morang with visits to two horticulture pockets and two cereal pocket areas. • Use of tools like household survey, focus group discussion, and interaction with key informants were held in all the pocket areas to collect information of agriculture mechanization. • Carried out study on the present status of Agriculture Mechanization in the Terai districts • Carried out study on the future prospect and need of mechanization for achieving the objective of agriculture policy of Agriculture Mechanization in the Terai districts • Carried study coverage on social, economical and environmental aspect of Tarai with respect to agriculture mechanization, research, manufacturing, distribution and utilization of agriculture machineries. • Analyzed constraints and policy issues and make policy recommendations conducive to the present and future need of Agriculture Mechanization in the context of Nepal • Collected information on scale, type and time of mechanization as per potential crop. • Recoded traditional technology and equipments in use will and prospects of their effective use is technically recommended. • Documentation on Agriculture Mechanization for utilization by policy maker, planner, extension worker, researcher, manufacturer, distributors and marketers. • Preparation of Inception, Field, Draft, and Final Report and Submission
