Feasibility Study on Arterial Road Corridor Development along the Arterial Road of Nakkhu – Bungamati Sector

Project Description

There has been an urgent need to address Kathmandu Valley’s existing Urbanization process and direct its growth in a predetermined and preplanned growth model and not in a haphazardly developed area. Presently, the urban growth has been extended along the adjoining VDCs of the core areas and around the traditional settlements. The existing arterial roads have been serving the rural areas as a prime transportation linkage to core areas however theses roads are of two lanes and inadequate to cater in the current urbanization scenario.

In this regards, the study of major arterial road corridors with the intention of carrying out the improvement of the arterial roads through land development and prepare a proposal for infra-structural development along with land development plan for the whole area has been carried out in this study.

Assignment Description

Study the existing condition of physical and social infrastructure within the Project Area • Collect cadastral maps topographical maps, Aerial photographs, ortho-photos, base maps and related drawings and reports for the project area • Collect sufficient relevant information from concerned authorities about their activities and programs related to infrastructure development for about 4-5 years. • Collect data on land ownership and land distribution from Land revenue Office and Survey Offices. • Assess the encroachment of arterial road • Locate the existing built of areas and locate land development pockets within the study area. • Prepare a proposal for infra-structural development along with land development plan for the whole area • Prepare a model land readjustment plan of a stretch of 500 m along arterial road for the purpose of redevelopment of arterial road corridor • Prepare a Land Development Plan including long-term and short –term action plan. • Prepare a detail layout plan, design, Bill of quantities, Cost estimate of work activities for short-term action plan
