The Bhaluwang Pyuthan Road is located in Dang and Pyuthan District of Rapti Zone in Mid Western Development Region. The road originates from Bhaluwang (27( 51’N, 82( 47’E) Km 689+000 of Mahendra Highway in Dang district and ends at Pyuthan (28(05′ N, 82(52’E) of Pyuthan district. The Ganaha (27(53’N, 82(48’E) – Chakchake (28(03′ N, 82(47′ E) sector of the road passes through Siwalik and Mahabharat range. The road under study is about 18 km from Ganaha and ends at Mandre (28(03′ N, 82(47’E) covering Siwalik and Mahabharat range of alignment, lies in Pyuthan District. This road has been constructed to a single lane feeder road having 3.5m pavement width with gravel standard up to Km 28+000 and then after to a earthen standard, by Department of Roads with solely from HMG/N resource. The right of way is 15m. The present traffic on the road is about 60 vehicles per day. The construction method employed was a combination of labour intensive and mechanised method. Several shortfall during construction can be noted on site with respect to slope cutting, soil disposal, discharging surface water which are alarming cut slope failures, formation of new landslides and gully erosion.
