The project area is located in the Rupandehi district, Western Development Region of the country. The main works in brief r are to review overall status of the study on Impact Evaluation of Bhairahawa-Lumbini Groundwater Irrigation Project (about 20,309 ha); assess general situation and present status of main physical infrastructure (pumps, canal system, approach roads, electro-mechanical system etc.) of the selected tubewells; evaluate overall performance; identify major technical and/or socio economical threats, if any, existing in the functioning of the system propose solution measures; assess general status of institutional/organizational set up of agency and WUG to assume O and M responsibilities; identify issues and problems that are providing hindrance for smooth operation and efficient use of the tubewells, obtain schedule of operation, energy consumption pattern and budgetary arrangement for operation of pumps; obtain proposed and actual irrigated area of the tubewells and identify problems if hat exists; assess change in water availability due to the project.
