Project Description

Reviewed available reports, maps and information related to the individual projects as well as the overall project documents.
• Assessed individual/overall project planning, preparation and implementation with major emphasis on stakeholders participation during each phase of the project.
• Assessed changes in agricultural production, agricultural yields and farm incomes before and after the project and in the given target year.
• Assessed crop diversification and changes in cropping intensity before and after the project and in the given target year.
• Assessed actual irrigation coverage, infrastructure development, water availability, water conflicts and sustainability of the schemes before and after the project.
• Assessed handed over projects in terms of their O&M, ownership feelings, activity of water users associations, farmer satisfaction towards system improvements and sustainability of the projects on the long run.
• Assessed water users associations in terms of their participation during different phases of project implementation, capacity build up, day to day functions, O&M skill transfer, usefulness of trainings (irrigation as well as agricultural part) farmer satisfactions towards their WUA’s performance, water management, institutional strengthening etc.
• Assessed other activities such as market development, market access, agricultural support services and extensions, living standards etc.
• Assessed poverty alleviation, employment generation of the farmers involved.
• Assessed institutional strengthening of DOI and its DIOs and DADOs (physical infrastructure, logistics and skills).
• Assessed Irrigation Service Fee (ISF) collection and willingness of farmers to pay the ISF before and after the project.
• Assessed constraints and shortcomings during different phases of the project implementation and possible remedial measures for smooth project implementation for achieving the set goals and objectives of the project.
