Sagarmatha National Park Management and Tourism Plan (SNP/MTP) 2006 – 2011” has been proposed with a mission to conserve and maintain the biological and cultural values and scenic beauty for the benefit of the present and future generations. The Plan recommends strategies and activities such as Park, Buffer zone and Tourism management, institutional strengthening and scientific research etc. needed to conserve and maintain the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage and also manage tourism, which supports to uplift the livelihood of the communities within the Park and its Buffer Zone.
As per prevailing Environmental Protection Act 2053 B.S. (1996) and its Regulation 2054 B.S. (1997) of Nepal, the implementation of Management Plan of Protected areas and its Buffer Zone requires an Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) prior to its approval and implementation. The present Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) report involves the assessment of the potential environmental impacts of those activities, and proposes the enhancement measures of the beneficial impacts, and mitigation measures for those likely to give negative environmental impacts.
