The study carried out detailed analysis and suitable proposals for legal, policy and institutional structure of WECS and other related organizations at the central, regional, basin, district and village levels for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in a River-Basin Context as guided by the NWP-2005

Assignment Description

The services include; • Analysis and recommendations on the required enabling environment (policy and legal) to incorporate the basic principles of IWRM in a river basin context • Analysis and recommendations on the required institutional framework (both at the central, regional/basin and local level) to incorporate the basic principles of IWRM in a river basin context • Analysis and recommendations on the required management instruments to incorporate the basic principles of IWRM in a river basin context The logical framework approach was followed in the study, the approach involves problem analysis, stakeholder analysis, developing a hierarchy of objectives and selecting a preferred implementation strategy. The study followed the integrated water resources management (IWRM) principles adopted by the National Water Resources Strategy (NWRS, 2002) and National Water Plan (NWP, 2005).
