Migration Pilot Survey

Project Description

The migration phenomenon is one of the important aspects of population study of country. However, sufficient study on this matter is lacking. The MOHP has conducted this study and its main objective of this Pilot Survey is to determine the migration situation of Nepal by surveying at main entry points of the country and households of the selected districts from the HH survey. The study has determined the migration rate, type of migrants, the origin and destination, their reasons for migration and identified the nature of economic and socio/cultural impacts due to migration. The study has also recommended and suggested plans and policies for population management.

Assignment Description

Conduct pilot survey at all major entry points (6 Points) of Nepal • Conduct household survey in Kailali, Syangja, Udayapur Districts • Identify the origin and destination of in-migrants and out-migrants • Identify the population indicators such as age, sex, ethnicity, marital status, skills and occupations of migrants • Prepare a structured questionnaire to study, process and analyze the objective of the study. • Recommend and suggest plans and policies for migration and population management in Nepal • Suggest the type of workforce need for Nepal's future • Identify the nature of economic and socio/cultural impacts due to migration
