Pre-feasibility Study on Irrigation Development along the Terrace of the Kaligandaki River in Palpa District

The study was to prepare feasibility report on the probable surface or the lift irrigation scheme in order to irrigate the agriculture land along the bank of the Kaligandaki river which covers Hungi, Gegha, Heklang, Khaliban, Rampur, Darcha, Gadakote VDCs in Palpa districts

Assignment Description

Identified the irrigation water sources and the corresponding irrigating land areas along the Kaligandaki belt of above mentioned VDCs. • Identified the possible irrigation methods-surface schemes or the lift schemes powered by the pump systems. • Consultation held with the local stake holders such as irrigation water users community representative in order to have a comprehensive view in the type of irrigation system, methods of irrigation and the corresponding cropping calendar to be implemented in future as per the water availability. • Accessed round the year irrigation services to the users farmers according to the new irrigation policy. • Accessed any adverse impact due to environmental vulnerability needs to be considered in the study. • Produced innovative approaches so as to support modernization of irrigation system with round the year irrigation services to the water user farmer community.
