Preparation of Digital Data of Banke District

Project Description

The project was to establish a GIS based database system for the planning, development and identification of potential irrigation areas for surface as well groundwater irrigation systems within the district. This was to identify the remaining potential areas for future development as well as identify the infrastructure already built within the district like road networks, electrical transmission lines etc.

Assignment Description

Digitization of nearly 20 topographical sheets prepared by the Topographical Survey Branch for preparing different data layers using ARCInfo and ARCView GIS Software. • The works carried out were board digitization, error checking, compiling, mosaics, overlays, projection in UTM system. • Preparation of metadata sheets, etc. • The final layers prepared are Administrative Division- VDC, electoral area, district boundary; road networks-highways, feeder, districts, trails etc., river networks, electrical transmission line, settlements, contour, irrigation command area under different projects, groundwater information, designated area i.e. forests, reserves of Banke district. • Spatial Overlays and preparation and production of related maps
