Preparation of Digital Data of Lal Bakeya River using GIS

Project Description

River Training Project under River Training and Mechanical Division (RTMD) of Department of Irrigation is the unit responsible for maintaining, updating and installing database of different river and river networks. In this, the project is planning to digitize the information of data from the existing topographical maps of different rivers and river networks. The present exercise will be a step forward in equipping RTMD with digital data of various rivers and river networks.

Assignment Description

Digitization of 1:25,000 and 1:63,000 topographical sheets prepared by the Topographical Survey Branch for preparing different data layers using ARCInfo and ARCView GIS Software along the Lal Bakeya rivers. • The works carried out were board digitization, error checking, compiling, mosaics, overlays, projection in UTM system. • Preparation of metadata sheets, etc. • The final layers prepared are Administrative Division- VDC, road networks-highways, feeder, districts, trails etc., river networks, settlements, contour • GIS Spatial Analysis of the movement of river bed over the period • Spatial Overlays and preparation and production of related maps
