The key objectives of the preparation of EMP Guideline specifically focused to irrigation systems are formulate: prepare environment management plan for the irrigation projects; prepare a guideline for monitoring plan for baseline, impact and compliance monitoring of the irrigation project; and prepare a guideline for an environmental auditing plan to be implemented after the construction of irrigation project

Assignment Description

Collection of reports, manuals, and policies related to environment in general and environment with particular reference to irrigation systems • Interaction with the professionals working in the field of irrigation projects to obtain the information regarding the environmental issues in irrigation projects. • Propose environmental monitoring for small and large irrigation system with respect to geographical region and terrain characteristics. • The different aspects of monitoring like baseline monitoring, impact monitoring, compliance monitoring should be well addressed in the report. • The intensity of monitoring should be defined and proposed for the different types of irrigation project. • Specify the different monitoring indicators. • The type of environmental auditing necessary for specific type of irrigation project in specific geographical region should be categorically mentioned in the guideline. • Consideration of institutional aspect and public involvement in the EMP • Consideration of socio-economic, cultural, gender and social inclusion issues • Consideration of physical and biological components of environment with reference to the irrigation system • Preparation of Inception, Draft and Final Report
