The present study encompasses the floodplain of Dano River and Tinau River in the Rupandehi District of Western Development Region. Geographically it lies between 830 15′ -830 22′ longitudes and 260 20′ -260 27′ latitudes. The main stem of the Tinau River originates at an altitude of 1300m. It has a basin area of some of some 1081 km2, (108100 ha.) of which 412 km2 (41200 ha.) are in the Terai and 669 km2 of mountainous area.
This study is on Preparation of Project Proposal of Tinau/Dano Rive in Rupandehi District, covering flood mitigation effort i.e., Watershed management, river control and community development in Tinau/Dano river area, Watershed management include construction of erosion facilities, encouragement of afforest ration and land use control. River stabilization, river boundary line should be first designated and authorized for the flood control activities, Community development component include community mobilization, local cropping measures and community based sustainable flood mitigation measures.
