Socio-Economic Study of Emergency Flood Damage Rehabilitation Project

Project Description

The objective of the EFDRP is to restore economic activity in the project districts and improve the livelihood of the people affected by the 2008 monsoon floods in the eastern and far-western regions of Nepal. The project includes Agriculture, Irrigation, Water Supply and Sanitation and Road components.

Assignment Description

Prepare a suitable framework (including methodology, tools, and indicators) for collection of socio-economic data (field survey Based on the available data/information and assessment of specific requirements of proposed study, and get PCO's approval on the survey framework before embarking upon data collection process at the field level; • Conduct in-depth field survey (study) in order to obtain following information/data of completed/ongoing project activities • Increase incomes of flood affected people; • Demand and needs assessments process and its inclusiveness; • Participations/representations of women and vulnerable groups in users committees, training/orientation programs; • Accessibility to services provided by the project and uses of infrastructure built/rehabilitated by the project and their benefits; • Employment opportunities created by the project for women, poor, and vulnerable groups of people affected by floods • Status of revival of irrigation and agriculture compared to the pre-flood level stage, • Changes in cropping pattern and yields of major staple crops as a result of floods and project intervention; • Overall status of implementation process of project activities in comparison to the project implementation schedule • Prepare a socioeconomic report including analysis and assessments of achievement of project outputs and outcomes, monitoring and evaluation against their performance indicators as defined in the design and monitoring framework of the project through implementation of the planned project activities as of this stage. Report shall analyze the status of inclusion of vulnerable groups of people (women, disadvantaged groups, dalits, etc) in various project activities and the benefits accruing to them through these activities. All data information collected from the field level survey will be in the disaggregated form i.e. the data should clearly distinguish male, female, dalits, members of vulnerable/disadvantaged groups, etc
