Project Description

The main objective of this study is to popularize and promote the use of renewable energy technology to raise living standards of the rural people; to protect the environment by providing clean from of energy sources; to promote the development of commercial viable alternative energy technology industries in Nepal and evaluating the effect of Solar Home System (SHS) and user’s satisfaction survey, installed by various companies by conducting a Solar Home Users Survey in the selected 10 district situated in the hills. The selected districts in the Eastern Development Region (Dhankuta, Khotang, Okhaldhunga and Terathum); Central Development Region (Lalitpur and Sindhuli) and Western Development Region (Baglung, Gulmi, Kaski and Palpa).

Assignment Description

To examine the Socio-economic status of the study area; • Training and post installation services provided to the consumers by SHS company; • To examine the financing of SHS and Reasons of installing SHS; • To examine the effect of SHS on, employment generation, financial position of SHS and environment; • To examine the user's satisfaction over the use of SHS; • To examine the technical status of SHS (condition of battery, charge controller, Module etc); • Data processing and analysis and promotion of alternative energy uses; • To examine the problems faced by the users while approaching for the installation of SHS the institutional problems associated with its dissemination and the users suggestion on possible improvements in the SHS.
