The scope of the proposed work to conduct the geological study and topographic survey of the Lothar Khola River included but not be limited to the followings:
• The rivers and drains under the proposed consulting job shall be all the Lothar Khola basin upstream from the confluence of the Lothar Khola and the East Rapti River covering Chitwan and Makawanpur districts and adjoining rivulets, 5 km left and right of Lothar Khola.
• Topographical maps of 1:25,000 scale, produced by the Department of Survey shall be used as the base maps for the study.
• The digital topographical data covering a major portion of the study area, which are available in DWIDP shall be made available. The consultant shall create or update the database of the occurrences of different water induced disasters in the area supported by photographs of the problematic spots, population data; socioeconomic information and landuse of the basin.
• The Consultant is expected to carry out the survey of the 5 km stretch of Lothar River giving special consideration of to the tribulaties towards left bank side, upstream from the confluence of East Rapti River. The survey should also cover 1 km. stretch each in upstream and downstream along the East Rapti River in 1:1000 scale with 1 m contour interval, L-Section and Cross-Sections of Lothar Khola and its tributaries: Panthali Khola, Sitam Khola, Ghatte Khola etc. Cross-Section shall be 100 m interval.
• The Consultant should conduct field work in the whole catchment and prepare geological and engineering geological maps of the basin in 1:25,000 scale. The engineering geological map should show all the past disaster and disaster prone areas and submit both analog and digital map.
• The Consultant should identify the settlements hit by recent water induced disaster and find out the causes. Possible mitigative measures with cost estimate should also be proposed & submitted.
• The Consultant should identify the debris flow prone settlements and prepare debris flow Hazard maps in 1:1000 scale and submit both digital and analog maps.
