Technical Auditor’s Training (13th and 14th Batch)

Project Description

National Vigilance Centre (NVC), Government of Nepal has mandate to carry out technical audit of the infrastructure projects that are going on through the different government departments throughout the nation. For that purpose, NVC has to train professional engineers to be qualified technical auditors. Since these trainings are considered effective, and since Technical auditing is fast becoming a compulsory “tool” to keep a tab on quality of the projects at all stages, NVC intends to expand the pool of trained “Technical Auditors” through the continuation of technical auditor training. The main objective of the training was to (i) Develop technical audit capacity within the government and the private sector so as to ensure improved quality control of infrastructural projects during all stages of the project cycle, (ii) Expand the “pool” of “Technical Auditors” to conduct third party technical audits in order to verify design standards, work specification and financial reviews of project activities.

Assignment Description

The training service provider utilized all the previous experience of managing training with valuable inputs from resource persons and NVC to facilitate the learning and knowledge sharing process during the training period. Much attention to detail and planning was done to maximize the use of the training duration. The training session were conducted on skills/concepts based on the specific infrastructure disciplines like Roads, Bridges, Irrigation, Hydropower, Water Supply and Building. The methodology and learning methods that were used for the training (Knowledge Transfer) included illustrated talk, group discussions and presentation, oral questioning, field work and feedback of the participants. The training was envisaged for 3 weeks and required active participation and attendance from the participants. Focusing on the fact “Learning by doing”, participants were involved in the real field work with site visit for technical audit and subsequently preparing individual audit report and presentation. The courses were carried out in both Nepali and English Language.
